  • For BET : Degree in Biotechnology / Life Sciences or allied disciplines such as Biomedical, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Botany, Chemistry, Computational Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Zoology or any other allied areas of Biology / Life-Sciences.
  • For GAT-B : Candidates Meeting the Minimum Eligibility criteria of Participating Institutions / Universities are eligible to apply for GAT-B 2026 entrance examination. Final Year Students can Also Apply Under the Result Awaited Category.

How to Apply

  • Step 1 : Access the official NTA website at https://exams.nta.nic.in/gat-bet/.

  • Step 2 : Click on the registration link and register by entering your own valid Email ID and Mobile Number to generate your unique Application Number.

  • Step 3 : Log in with your credentials and complete the personal and academic details required in the Online Application Form.

  • Step 4 : Select your preferred four cities for the examination centres in order of preference.

  • Step 5 : Upload a recent scanned passport photograph (10 kb–200 kb) with 80% face visible against a white background.

  • Step 6 : Upload a scanned image of your signature in a running hand (10 kb–50 kb).

  • Step 7 : Upload necessary document proofs such as Identity Proof, Date of Birth proof, Category/PwD certificates, or Result Awaited forms if applicable (sizes varying from 10 kb to 300 kb).

  • Step 8 : Pay the prescribed examination fee online using Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI.

  • Step 9 : Download and print the successfully generated Confirmation Page for your future reference.

Selection Process

Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) 2026 Selection Process

  • Step 1 : Registration and Application Form Submission – Candidates fill out and submit a single online application form through the official NTA portal with their personal and academic credentials.

  • Step 2 : Document Uploading – Candidates upload legible scanned copies of their photograph, signature, identity proof, date of birth proof, and applicable category/disability certificates.

  • Step 3 : Examination Fee Payment – Candidates complete the application by paying the specified exam fee through net-banking, credit/debit card, or UPI modes.

  • Step 4 : Admit Card Issuance – Provisionally eligible candidates download their examination admit card containing the designated date, shift, and center details from the NTA website.

  • Step 5 : Computer-Based Entrance Test – Candidates appear for the national-level entrance exam conducted in a computer-based format consisting of multiple-choice questions.

  • Step 6 : Challenge of Provisional Answer Keys – Candidates review their recorded exam responses and are given an opportunity to challenge the provisional answer keys online for a non-refundable fee per question.

  • Step 7 : Final Merit List Compilation – NTA evaluates the final responses using the certified final answer key to generate an All-India category-wise merit list adhering to Government of India reservation policies.

  • Step 8 : Institutional Application and Admissions Selection – GAT-B qualified candidates independently apply to participating universities who advertise, shortlist, and handle admissions based on their own norms.

  • Step 9 : Stipend Disbursement Setup – Upon institutional enrollment, qualified candidates receive a monthly student stipend following due academic verification from the host institution.

Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) 2026 Selection Process

  • Step 1 : Registration and Application Form Submission – Candidates undergo a uniform online application process via the NTA website to apply for the fellowship eligibility examination.

  • Step 2 : Document Uploading – Candidates upload essential digital records including their passport-sized photograph, structural signature, and qualifying degree certificates.

  • Step 3 : Examination Fee Payment – Candidates finalize their entry by successfully making an online payment for the mandatory assessment fee.

  • Step 4 : Admit Card Issuance – NTA uploads the provisional admit card to the web portal, which candidates must download and bring to their assigned examination premises.

  • Step 5 : Computer-Based Eligibility Test – Candidates undergo a dedicated competitive written assessment administered uniformly across designated nationwide test centers.

  • Step 6 : Challenge of Provisional Answer Keys – Candidates view their submitted exam papers and lodge any formal online answer key discrepancies through the NTA portal before result compilation.

  • Step 7 : Merit Categories Classification – Based on scores and reservation regulations, NTA prepares two discrete award rosters: Category-I (DBT-JRF Fellowship eligible) and Category-II (Project appointment eligible).
